Peer Coaching for Real Challenges: Human-Centered Problem Solving

Thursday, June 11, 2026 1:30 PM โ€“ 2:30 PM Pitzer ยท Fletcher 112

About This Session

Constant change, growing workloads, and pressure to lead without clear direction are shaping the experience at many of our institutions. In a field often centered on tools and systems, our most complex challenges require something else: space to think, perspective from others, and the ability to work through uncertainty together.

This interactive session introduces a practical, human-centered problem-solving model to generate new ideas and a clear path forward. Come with something real โ€” a situation where you feel stuck, depleted, or unsure what to try next โ€” and leave with a concrete action plan and new community connections.

How the Session Works

  • Bring ItEach person brings a situation where they feel stuck, depleted, or unsure what to try next โ€” a real, current challenge, not a hypothetical
  • ClarifyPeers ask clarifying questions to help you see the challenge more clearly โ€” often revealing assumptions or framing that had been invisible
  • GenerateThe group generates multiple new possibilities and approaches โ€” expanding the solution space before narrowing to action
  • ActIdentify one specific, actionable next step โ€” concrete enough to act on before your next meeting back home

What Makes This Different

  • This isn't a presentation or a panel โ€” every participant is both a coach and a coachee
  • The focus is on your actual challenges, not curated case studies or hypothetical scenarios
  • You leave with a community of peers who know your real situation โ€” not just a business card
  • The structured process prevents the vague advice loops that often derail peer conversations

Learning Outcomes

  • Apply a simple, structured peer coaching model to individual challenges โ€” moving from stuck to action in a single session.
  • Generate multiple strategies and define a clear, actionable next step for a current real-world challenge.
  • Build peer connections that support ongoing problem-solving and resilience beyond the conference.
